"Air Beneath Your Soles" - Very Difficult Via Ferrata in Döbriach
The starting point for the "Air Beneath Your Soles" via ferrata in Döbriach is about a 15-minute drive from the Explorer Hotel in Bad Kleinkirchheim. From the parking lot of the ÖAV climbing garden, walk towards the Breitwand climbing garden and after about 15 minutes you will reach the start of the challenging via ferrata.
The short and easy entry traverse in area A/B leads directly into the first steep section, a short section of rope in area B/C. Another traverse in area A allows you to briefly recharge your energy reserves before another steep section in area C/D follows. Here, you'll need to move quickly so you don't strain your upper arms too much.
Now you'll move on to a small overhang. To overcome this section, you'll need to use your stirrups carefully. The route continues vertically upwards in area C into a very steep gully (C/D). Once you've mastered this section, you'll reach the wall book, where you can take a short break on a bench. From the bench of the via ferrata, you'll literally have "air beneath your feet" and can enjoy the unique view of Lake Millstatt.
After you've briefly recharged your batteries, you'll continue with the exit section. And this is a tough challenge, with 50 meters in difficulty levels D and D/E! First, you climb up the slabs in area D to the left, then an exposed traverse in area D to the edge. Now comes the crux of the via ferrata. It continues vertically upwards in area D/E to the ascent plateau near the flagpole.
Once you've reached this point, you've successfully mastered this challenging via ferrata! Finally, there's just an easy traverse in area A/B toward the forest, where the exit awaits.
