Falkensteig - Via Ferrata in the Nock Mountains in Carinthia
The starting point for the Falkertsteig is the Falkertsee, approximately 15 km from the Explorer Hotel Bad Kleinkirchheim. From the parking lot, you walk along the southern shore of the lake to the Sonntagstal valley, where a signpost points to the via ferrata.
After about 25 minutes, you'll reach the junction, where signs will guide you along a path that leads you to the Falkertwand and the via ferrata. Once you reach the start, a magnificent view awaits you.
The first crux awaits you shortly after the start. The long and steep corner begins in the A/B area and, after a short traverse, transitions into the C/D area, already requiring considerable strength.
Now the route continues along a grassy ledge towards Zirbe A/B, over a short rock step to the A/B wall guide. Here, you'll find a place for a short rest and an emergency exit.
From the wall guide, the route continues steeply upwards, followed by a traverse to a slab A/B. Further up into a B/C niche and over an exposed traverse to the left, followed by slabs and steps until you reach a small ramp. From here, the route continues right over rock steps into a wall, graded B/C. Over partly grassy terrain, you then reach the rope bridge. Cross the gorge over the bridge, then descend briefly (D), then climb slightly again to the exit. The hiking trail now takes you to the summit of the Falkert (2,308 m) in about 10 minutes.
The descent follows the hiking trail via the Falkertscharte back to the Falkertsee.
Still got enough energy? Then extend your tour to include another summit: At the Falkertscharte, choose the ascent to the summit of the Rödresnock (2,310 m), and the descent also follows the starting point, the Falkertsee.
