UCI MTB Eliminator World Championships 2024 in Aalen
Every athlete's dream: winning the World Championships at home! This dream was within reach for the pros from the Aalen mountain bike racing team. Find out whether the dream came true and find out more about the sporting event here!
This is what the 2024 Mountain Bike World Championships in Aalen were like:
After two successful World Cups, the superlative took place in Aalen this year: The Mountain Bike Sprint World Championship! The Aalen city center once again became a race track.
40 riders from all over the world competed against each other at the 2024 MTB World Championships and 15,000 people cheered them on. From the MTB racing team, Simon Gegenheimer and Marion Fromberger were very popular and medal contenders. Both made it to the final.
In the last race, Simon didn't get off to the ideal start and found himself in several duels with the rider in front of him. This allowed Jeroen van Eck from the Netherlands to extend his lead and ultimately become world champion. Simon finished in 3rd place.
Similar to his teammate Marion. She also sprinted to the winner's podium for the bronze medal. Her long-time Italian rival, Gaia Tormena, ultimately won the race.
Even though both would have naturally liked to win, the professionals from the mountain bike racing team are happy with their placings and were pleased to have been able to witness the awards ceremony at the home World Championships. We take our hats off to their achievement!
