Ricky Morales Ortiz from Puerto Rico has been part of the mountain bike racing team since 2022 and has already experienced the Alps, which were previously unknown to him, during the official Bike Transalp. We'll introduce you to Ricky in more detail.

Hello Ricky, please describe yourself in a few words!
A little crazy, a little chaotic, a little wild, but overall a nice guy. I love what I do and try to follow my path without hurting others or my environment.
You haven't been on the MTB racing team for very long. What are your expectations?
I want to be on the World Cup podium. Steffen brought me onto the team, and I think he sees a lot of potential in me. More than I perhaps see in myself, but I'm ready to follow the racing team, learn, and develop further. We'll see where my journey takes me, but if Steffen is right and I end up with a rainbow medal around my neck sometime in the future, then he will have been right, and I'm proud of myself, but also of him, his insight into human nature, and my entire racing team.
How long have you been riding a bike?
Even as a child. I went straight from flip-flops to kick pedals.
Food: What's your favorite morning meal?
Nutella
You're from America - what's the difference between the trails in your home country and the trails around the Explorer Hotels?
At home, almost everything is made of sand. I live in the Caribbean, on the beach. We have great trails, almost always good weather, and mountains, but of course, in terms of trail building and development, you can't compare it to the Alps. We're trying to develop gradually, but that only happens bit by bit, and it will be a long time before we have a biking paradise like the one you find here.
Snowy mountains - awesome or rather weird? :P
Very cool, I need a thick jacket and two scarves, but I'm already looking forward to winter and one or two training camps in the snow with my teammates. I think Steffen already got me some skis at IKO.
What do you draw your strength from? What gives you power?
I have a lot of support from my girlfriend. She can't always travel around the world with me, but after all, someone has to look after our home and our dog. When I'm on a world tour with the racing team, we talk on the phone every day, and I can talk about things that sometimes have nothing to do with the bike.
