Hello Dan, please describe yourself in a few words!
I'm from Mexico, near the Tamul Waterfalls. A wonderful area with wonderful people, Mexico indeed. No kidding, I'm proud of the country I come from, but I love traveling, getting to know people, and gaining new impressions and perspectives.
You haven't been on the MTB racing team for very long. What are your expectations?
Compared to my teammates, I'm still a baby in terms of athletics. No World Cup win, no World Cup podium, no decades of competitive training. I want to take advantage of my opportunity on the racing team and show that I have potential and can develop quickly. We have a plan that will take me to the World Championships, then to a World Cup awards ceremony, and ultimately to a World Cup victory.
How long have you been riding your bike?
I haven't been riding at a professional level as long as the others. I've been on this journey for three years, and we'll see where it takes me.
Food: What's your favorite morning meal?
I love healthy food. Avocados, fruit, fruit juices—that's my favorite breakfast buffet.
You're from Mexico - what's the difference between the trails in your home country and the trails around the Explorer Hotels?
I myself live at an altitude of over 2,000 meters, so we do have high mountains at home. When it comes to trails and terrain, it's better to take your full suspension bike with you to Mexico.
But it's always so bitterly cold there - even in summer I need a jacket. I'd say the mountain refrigerator is the biggest difference between being at home in Mexico and my second home in Europe.
Snowy mountains - amazing or rather strange? :P
_Strange to scary. I've never been in the snow. I only know about skiing from Instagram.
But my racing team has already warned me. In winter 2022/23, they'll be strapping on cross-country skis for me._
Do you already have a favorite trail at the Explorer Hotels?
I rode the High Alpine Road in Montafon with Simon, and it was fantastic. But please only in the summer for now—I can't imagine how that would work with snow.
What do you draw your strength from? What gives you energy?
Tacos and sleep. I try to sleep between 9 and 11 hours a day. Some might call it 'beauty sleep,' but it's what gives me strength for new tasks and allows me to tackle them with full concentration and all my energy.
