Sustainability on the road to success: Explorer Hotel opens in Farchant
(Farchant) For the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, the opening of the Explorer Hotel in Farchant is a milestone in sustainability. At the official opening on Saturday, tourism officials spoke of an enhancement for the entire region. Because more and more people are paying attention to their ecological footprint, even while on vacation, local officials expect this to have a tremendous impact.
The new holiday home for environmentally conscious and active guests in Farchant is the 10th property of the Explorer family, which launched in Oberstdorf in 2010 with Europe's first certified passive house hotel and has consistently refined its sustainability strategy ever since. All properties are exceptionally sustainable and have a positive footprint. In addition to certified environmental management and guest awareness, the focus is on the use of resource-saving materials.
For example, the carpet at the Explorer Hotel in Farchant is made entirely from recycled fishing nets and PET bottles. The Explorer, which describes itself as a base camp for athletic explorers, offers 100 stylish rooms with views of the Alpspitze and Zugspitze mountains. The concept in Farchant also includes a workbench for preparing sports equipment, ample storage space, and lockers for your equipment.
Katja Leveringhaus and Jürnjakob Reisigl, the founders, owners, and managing directors of the Explorer Group, were delighted with the positive response at the official opening and announced further projects. By 2030, there will be a total of 25 hotels in the German and Austrian Alpine region that combine tourism and sustainability.
