As Europe's first certified passive house hotel, we took a step into a green future with the construction of the first Explorer Hotel in Oberstdorf. The motto "Sustainable by conviction" has been a firm and indispensable part of our brand profile ever since. We are very proud of every sustainability award we receive.
Sustainability certificates and awards build trust. They enable us to present our actions transparently to our guests and make our sustainability efforts more accessible to them. There are numerous certificates covering various aspects of sustainability and often representing a combination of environmental, social, and economic criteria.
Since our early days, Explorer Hotels have taken on a pioneering role in climate-friendly tourism in the Alpine region with their 100% passive house construction and innovative energy concepts.
To ensure this remains the case, we maintain a secure quality management system. Explorer Hotels have been certified according to DIN ISO 9001 (quality management) and DIN ISO 14001 (environmental management) since 2011. Our processes are documented and standardized through checklists and manuals, for example, on waste prevention, separation, and disposal. Workshops and employee training programs also contribute to quality assurance.
The mountains are our second home, so we participated in the ClimaHost climate protection competition in 2019. We are delighted about this nomination, which underlines our contribution to sustainable tourism in the Alpine region.

Bayern Tourismus-Marketing GmbH and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourism Association honored outstanding achievements and forward-looking concepts related to tourism development throughout Germany for the first time, and the Explorer Hotel Neuschwanstein took first place.
Since 2009, sustainable tourism projects and initiatives from Bavaria have been recognized annually. As Europe's first certified passive house hotel, we took second place in 2013 with our environmentally friendly hotel concept.
