Untracked slopes, silence, and hardly any people—that alone speaks volumes about ski touring! Here's why we love ski touring so much 💚
Here’s what you should know before practicing this sport:
If you have no experience in alpine terrain, please follow a ski touring trail in the ski area and avoid open terrain.
If you are unsure, we always recommend going on a tour with a trained mountain guide! Feel free to visit us in Hinterstoder!
Alternatively, you can also visit one of our ski touring camps.
To go on a ski tour, you should be confident on skis and be able to ski down red slopes without any problems.
That’s why you should try ski touring at least once!
1. You are independent of ski resorts and lifts
Because you are responsible for your own ascent, you only have to focus on yourself and your companions.
2. The most beautiful slopes are at your disposal
Since you choose where your tour takes you, you have the opportunity to climb the most beautiful peaks—assuming your skiing skills and avalanche knowledge are advanced enough!
3. Time with friends
Spend more time with friends!
Ski touring should be avoided alone, with the exception of piste tours. But let's be honest, sharing experiences with friends makes them almost twice as fun!
4. Ski touring makes you fit
Logical, right? Ski touring also has positive aspects for your health! It's an intensive endurance workout. Plus, the ascent is quite tough on your legs and buttocks. You should always make sure you have enough energy left for the descent, as that can also put a lot of strain on your leg muscles.
No, we're not done yet - we still have a few reasons for you!
...and the most important ones! 😉
5. Relaxation from everyday life
Do you just need to switch off? Then ski touring is just the thing! In the snowy outdoors, all sounds are muffled, and you'll hear nothing but the meditative crunch of your movements in the snow. Plus, the fresh mountain air helps you unwind.
6. Fun 🥳
Have you ever ridden through untouched powder? If so, you know the drill!
That feeling of freedom and lightness is simply unique.
But it's not just the descent that's amazing; the feeling on the ascent, when you've really pushed yourself to the limit, is also amazing! Nothing else can compare.
Ski touring - BUT not without the right equipment!
Avalanche transceiver: No one should venture into open terrain without a functioning and, above all, charged avalanche transceiver.
Probe: Thanks to the probe, you can locate buried subjects more precisely.
Shovel: You will need this to rescue a buried subject in an emergency.
Airbag backpack: The avalanche airbag is not mandatory equipment, but it can save your life in an emergency.
Do you already know how to plan your mountain adventure in a considerate and sustainable way? If you're not quite sure, ...
