You can't wait for spring to finally arrive – but is your bike feeling the same way? Together with bike pro Steffen Thum, we've compiled 5 tips for proper bike care so you can start the biking season without a hitch. Ready?
Whether it's a road bike or a mountain bike - one thing applies to every bike: Proper care is key. So, stop indoor cycling and get out on the trails 😉
So that nothing stands in the way of your start to this year's biking season and you can explore the bike trails and passes around the Explorer Hotels, we've compiled the 5 best care tips for your bike together with our bike pro Steffen Thum. Let's go!
Our 5 tips for proper bike care
Bike wash: To see where oil needs to go, you should clean your bike and remove all dirt. A little dish soap, a rag, and warm water are all you need :)
Oil the chain: Let the chain dry thoroughly after cleaning your bike and oil everywhere it moves. But very important: No chain oil on the disc brake 😉
Check the brakes: Remove the front wheel and check if there is enough brake pad. Then you should check the pressure point. If it's consistent: Great. Otherwise, you should have the brakes bled by a professional.
Lubricate the shock absorber: Apply some oil to the seals and the moving parts.
Check the tire pressure: Do the tires have enough air? For racing bikes, 7-8 bar air pressure is recommended, for MTBs significantly less: Steffen, for example, rides with 1.4-1.6 bar.
