The 12th Explorer Hotel is being built in this region!
In October 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 12th Explorer Hotel took place on Seebergstrasse in Bayrischzell. The new Explorer Hotel Bayrischzell will welcome environmentally conscious and active vacationers starting in November 2026, offering year-round opportunities for skiing, biking, and trail running.
A workbench for tuning sports equipment, ample storage space, and lockers for gear are standard amenities, as is respect for nature. Truly Explorer style.

With its new passive house hotel, the Explorer Hotel family is consistently continuing its sustainability strategy and taking it a step further: the building concept, energy supply, and the entire sustainability concept have been refined and further developed.
The first Explorer Hotel opened in Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region in 2010 – the first certified passive house hotel in all of Europe. Later this year, the 12th location will open at the foot of the Seebergkopf mountain in Bayrischzell. The focus is always on reconciling tourism and sustainability.
“Since our very beginnings, we have been pioneers of climate-friendly tourism in the Alpine region with our passive house construction and innovative energy concepts. Sustainability is more than just an important core value at Explorer Hotels. It is the foundation upon which our brand, all our actions, and our goals are built,” emphasize Katja Leveringhaus and Jürnjakob Reisigl, founders, owners, and managing directors of the group. “In the area of ecology, we are committed to tourism that is even more environmentally friendly. Everything we do should be transparent and traceable. Whether it's energy or resource consumption, we measure our contribution and every improvement.”
The new Explorer Hotel Stubaital in Neustift, like all Explorer Hotels, will be a passive house: geothermal energy, solar thermal, and photovoltaic systems maximize environmentally friendly energy generation, while energy losses are minimized through features such as triple-glazed windows and a comfort ventilation system with heat recovery. During the construction of the Explorer Hotel Stubaital, a consistent focus is placed on environmentally friendly building materials, including recycled materials whenever possible. For example, in addition to carpets made from recycled fishing nets and PET bottles, floor and wall tiles are used that are manufactured in a particularly resource-efficient manner and whose materials are environmentally compatible.
