Eco-friendly accommodation in the Montafon in Vorarlberg
You already know that all Explorer Hotels are passive houses. But what exactly does the energy-saving construction and sustainable operation in the Montafon look like? Find out here!
Sustainable holidays in a green hotel in Montafon
Energy & Technology
The Explorer Hotel Montafon uses a mix of different energy sources, thus maximizing the use of renewable energy. Solar thermal energy and wood pellets are used to generate heat and hot water. Electricity is covered by the hotel's own PV system on the roof. The proportion of self-generated electricity is thus up to 27% over the entire year.
Green on the go
Sustainability has many facets. During your vacation, you have countless opportunities to go green. In summer, you can enjoy numerous bike tours in the Montafon. From the Explorer Hotel Montafon, you can reach the Versettla valley station in no time, and from there, many great bike tours start in the Montafon.
Or explore the region by bus and train. Even in winter, you can leave your car at the hotel and take the ski bus directly to the ski area. Your Explorer Buddy will be happy to provide you with all the information about the timetable. :)
No matter which Explorer Hotel you stay at, we place the same high value on sustainability and are ISO14001 certified.
Passive house
A passive house hotel requires extremely little heating energy due to its excellent insulation and thermal insulation. It is currently the most energy-efficient and therefore most environmentally friendly construction method.
Environment
To reduce emissions, all Explorer Hotels rely on sustainable energy sources such as solar power and biomass. Waste reduction and employee training also play an important role in ensuring sustainable use of the natural environment.
Regionality
At the breakfast buffet, you'll find many regional products. Your bread is brought to you by the local baker. We also always try to work with partners who come from the region, whether for leisure activities, craftsmen, or laundry.
Social sustainability
The Explorer Hotels are open year-round, providing our Explorer Buddies with secure employment. Instead of having our own restaurant, we support local restaurants and are happy to give you tips on where to satisfy your hunger.
Save electricity
To save energy, we don't have a minibar. Drinks are available at the bar, which you can take to your room or enjoy in the lounge. Energy-saving light bulbs, LEDs, and motion detectors help us reduce electricity consumption.
pool
To save energy and water, we deliberately decided against a pool. Around your Explorer Hotel, you'll find a variety of lakes, leisure pools, and thermal spas. In the afternoons, our Sport Spa is available for your rejuvenation.
Garbage
We try to reduce waste wherever possible. Any waste that does occur is carefully separated, and you also have the option to separate it in your room.
Room
Our rooms don't have air conditioning, but proper ventilation makes it unnecessary. You'll still have access to fresh air. ;) The thermal building envelope and special windows promote air circulation and retain fresh air throughout the day, even when the windows are closed.
E-charging stations (for a fee)
There are four public charging stations in the underground car park. Each parking space costs €8.80.
