Zillertal High Alpine Road Viewpoint
The Zillertal High Alpine Road was built in the 1960s and originally served as a facilitator for farmers to cultivate the alpine pastures and torrent control. As word quickly spread about the beautiful view from the Zillertal High Alpine Road, the panoramic road was opened to guests at the end of the 1960s.
Access to the Zillertal High Alpine Road is possible from five municipalities:
- Hippach
- Zellberg
- Aschau im Zillertal
- Ried im Zillertal
- Kaltenbach
Not far from the Explorer Hotel in Kaltenbach, there is an access point to the Zillertal High Alpine Road. The panoramic road is worth a trip during your vacation, as it not only offers fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, but also provides the perfect starting point for hikes and ski tours in the Tux Mountains.
The highest point of the Zillertal High Alpine Road is at 2,020 m in Melchboden. Whether you're driving up here by car, motorbike, or even bicycle, the Zillertal High Alpine Road should definitely be on your itinerary during your vacation in the Zillertal. Beautiful panoramic views await you.
From the Zillertal High Alpine Road, you can reach the Kristallhütte, the Wedelhütte, and the Platzlalm, among others.
The Zillertal High Alpine Road is only open in summer and closed in winter.
