One of the highest church villages in Germany in the Werdenfelser Land
On the Wamberg, at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters, lies one of the highest church villages in Germany with just under 30 inhabitants. In addition to the fantastic mountain panorama and the view of the Wetterstein massif with the Alpspitze and Zugspitze, a well-preserved farming village awaits you here.
In the church village of Wamberg in the Werdenfelser Land, you will find nine listed farms from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the Church of St. Anna with its special high altar. You will also find the Wamberg mountain inn, which is definitely worth a stop.
A 40-minute hiking trail leads from the valley station of the Eckbauerbahn cable car to the idyllic mountain village. Or you can start your hike at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Hospital and walk up in 45 minutes.
By the way, a visit to the church village in winter can also be perfectly combined with a winter hike or toboggan ride, which takes you from the Eckbauerbahn mountain station over the Wamberg back to the Olympic Stadium in Partenkirchen.
