Frequently asked questions and information about staying at the Explorer Hotel

In addition to the breakfast buffet (see Breakfast) served daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the Explorer Lounge offers a variety of hot dishes—including vegetarian and vegan options—as well as tarte flambée, pizza, sandwiches, and salads from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

You can also order tarte flambée or pizza from us after 10:00 p.m. until midnight.

Hot and cold drinks are available all day until the bar closes at midnight.

On the Explorer Wall in the Explorer Lounge, you'll find the best restaurant recommendations in the area.

Explorer Hotels do not offer a traditional half-board option.

When you book with us, in addition to accommodation in trendy rooms, use of the Sport Spa (with sauna, steam room, infrared cabin, and fitness room) and the fantastic Explorer Hotel breakfast buffet are always included in the room rate.

For dinner, you can choose from a variety of hot dishes, sandwiches, pizza, tarte flambée, and salads. Simply choose what you'd like from our menu. All meals are available from 4 pm to 10 pm, and pizza and tarte flambée are available until midnight.

Why is there a Climate Rate?

The Climate Rate is 10% cheaper than the Special Rate and applies to train travel. We want to reward those who travel in an environmentally friendly way by train.

Does the Climate Rate also apply if I travel by bicycle?

Yes, if you cycle from your hometown, you can also book the Climate Rate.

The Climate Rate does not apply if you are cycling a long-distance route and have traveled by car.

Does the Climate Rate also apply if I travel by electric car?

No, the Climate Rate does not apply to travel by electric car.

Can I also get the Climate Rate if I only travel part of the way by train?

No, the Climate Rate cannot be booked in that case. The entire journey from your hometown to the Explorer Hotel must be made by train or bicycle.

My roommate is arriving by car, but I'm traveling by train. Do I get the 10% discount?

No, the Climate Rate only applies if all guests in a booking arrive by train.

What proof do I need to provide to book the Climate Rate?
You don't need to provide anything at the time of booking. Please show us your train ticket at the hotel before check-in.

How do I provide proof if I have a Climate Ticket?
In addition, you need to provide proof by stating the train numbers from your departure station at home to your destination station at the Explorer Hotel.

I've lost my train ticket.
If you cannot show us your train ticket upon arrival, we unfortunately cannot offer you the 10% discount and will rebook you on the Special Rate.

For just €5 per night, you can rent a stylish sports locker in the Explorer Lounge. This locker will then be exclusively yours for the duration of your stay at the Explorer Hotel.

You open it with your room key. Inside the locker, you'll find a rack for your bike and sturdy ski racks for your skis. There are also boot warmers and hooks for your ski helmet and gloves.

Alternatively, you can store your sports equipment free of charge in the bike and ski room.

The Explorer Hotel Lounge is the social hub of every Explorer Hotel.

Here you'll find the breakfast buffet, egg station, and a table for breakfast each morning. Or you can relax in one of the comfortable armchairs, seating areas, or sofas.

The sports lockers and workbench are also part of the Explorer Hotel Lounge. Grab a drink at the bar and tinker with your sports equipment at the workbench.

The Explorer Lounge and bar are open all day, from 6:30 a.m. to midnight.

As a hotel guest, you have two parking options:

1. In a parking space directly at the hotel - we charge €1 per night for this.

2. In the hotel garage - for €8.80 per night.

Some of the garage spaces are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations. You can park your car here free of charge while it is charging. Please move your car after charging is complete.

Exception: Explorer Hotel Zillertal - parking is only available in the underground garage, where the parking fee is €9.90 per night.

Each Explorer Hotel has four public EV charging stations in its underground parking garage. Parking in the garage costs €8.80 and is payable at reception.

Charging costs are billed directly to the respective charging station provider.

The Explorer Wall is a giant touchscreen in the Explorer Hotel Lounge.

Check-in from 3 p.m. / Check-out by 10:30 a.m.

Rooms are ready from 3 p.m. However, you are welcome to arrive earlier, park your car, and leave your luggage.

Want to sleep in a little longer on your departure day? Then book Late Check-Out for only €30/room and stay until 6 p.m.

Would you like to get to your room earlier? Then book Early Check-In (from 9 a.m.) for €30/room.

If you arrive later than 9 p.m., please provide your mobile phone number. The reception staff will then contact you automatically in the evening on your arrival day and explain how to check in via the night entrance.

Whether free cancellation is possible depends on the booked rate.

With the Flexible Rate, you can cancel or change your booking up to 3 days before arrival and only pay a fee of 10% of the booked price.

For cancellations 2 days or less before arrival, a cancellation fee of 80% applies; on the day of arrival, 100% applies.

With the Special Rate and all Deals, a cancellation fee of 80% applies if we are unable to re-let the room. For cancellations on the day of arrival or no-shows, a cancellation fee of 100% applies.

We recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance.

A washing machine (€3 per wash) and a dryer (€3 per dry) are available in the bike and ski room in the basement. You can get the key and detergent at reception.

In the underground garage, you'll find our free ski room. Here you can store your skis and dry your boots.

Alternatively, you can book your private, ventilated sports locker in the Explorer Lounge (€5 per night). It's easily accessed with your room card.

Please do not charge your e-bike battery in your room! You can charge the battery in the bike cellar, at the workbench, or in the sports lockers.
