The 2.4 km long Weissensee, west of Füssen, is one of the cleanest lakes in the Allgäu. Formed during the ice ages and the Lech Glacier, it likely owes its name to its white shimmer, created by limestone deposits.
In summer, Weissensee can be enjoyed by the whole family as a bathing lake. On the western shore, you'll find a bathing area with sunny lawns, restaurants, a playground, and table tennis. If you're looking for a bit more action, the lake in the Allgäu is also great for windsurfing and SUP.
For landlubbers, the Weissensee circular trail leads around the lake. You can hike or bike without any incline, but with fantastic views of the Alps. The 6 km circular trail starts at the parking lot of the Weißensee outdoor swimming pool.
Even in winter, the circular trail around Lake Weißensee in Füssen is an experience, or you can enjoy ice skating on the frozen lake.
