Natural snow and sporty skiing fun at the Wendelstein

The Wendelstein is a pristine natural snow ski area for sporty skiers. Around 11 kilometers of slopes await, primarily red and black runs. The slopes are only groomed when Mother Nature has provided sufficient snowfall – there is no artificial snowmaking . Two drag lifts provide access to the slopes around the Wendelstein alpine pastures. Ascend via the Wendelstein cable car from Osterhofen or the historic cog railway from Brannenburg.

The 3.8 km long black run to the Mitteralm is particularly exciting for experienced skiers. Slightly less steep, but equally challenging, is the approximately 5 km long red run back towards Osterhofen. You won't find wide beginner slopes or a large family program here – instead, you'll get a genuine mountain experience, natural snow, and varied runs.

And what about off the ski slopes?

Winter on the Wendelstein has so much more to offer! Ski tourers will find challenging terrain here, but should definitely pay attention to the applicable avalanche and operating instructions. Those who prefer a more leisurely pace can take a winter walk around the mountain station to the Wendelstein Chapel when conditions are right.
For a relaxing break, there's the Relax Package Plus with a deck chair and blanket. You can also visit the century-long exhibition at the Wendelsteinhaus or join them for Sunday brunch at 1,724 m on selected dates.

Arrival in winter

The free ski and cross-country ski bus in Bayrischzell will take you comfortably to the ski area and cross-country trails. The Kirchplatz bus stop is only about 450 meters from the Explorer Hotel Bayrischzell.
Alternatively, you can board at Bayrischzell train station – which is about 650 meters or an 8-minute walk away. From there, you can continue on to Osterhofen/Wendelstein parking lot, among other destinations. This way, you can start your ski day easily and without having to search for parking.
