Skiing in the Sölden Ski Area
The Sölden ski area is one of the most famous ski areas in the Alps and one of the largest ski areas in Austria. The ski area is located in Tyrol, Austria, more specifically in the Ötztal, Tyrol's longest side valley. Sölden is located at 1,377 m, and everyone will find something to their liking here!

Sölden is known as a World Cup resort in the Ötztal and has been the kickoff to the alpine competition season for years. In the "Hotspot of the Alps," as Sölden is also called, you too can hit the slopes, because with 144 kilometers of slopes, enthusiastic skiers are definitely in the right place! The Sölden ski area offers:
- 69.8 km of blue slopes
- 44.8 km of red slopes
- 27.4 km of black slopes
- 2 km of ski routes
With the BIG3, Sölden is the only ski area in Austria to boast three 3,000-meter peaks accessible by modern cable cars: Gaislachkogl, Tiefenbachkogl & Schwarze Schneid. The BIG3 in Tyrol can be experienced with or without skis, with three viewing platforms above the 3,000-meter mark.

Skiing in Sölden - Good to know:
- The longest run in Sölden leads from the BIG3 Schwarze Schneid platform to the valley station of the Gaislachkoglbahn cable car. It descends from 3,340 m to 1,370 m. The elevation difference is almost 2,000 meters. The longest slope in the ski area is approximately 15 km long.
- On the Rettenbach Glacier, you'll find the steepest slope! Slope 31 on the glacier is a World Cup slope.
- You'll have the best view from the roof of the spectacular iceQ! The best vantage point at the BIG3 Gaislachkogl in the Sölden ski area in the Ötztal at 3,048 m is right next to the Gaislachkogl cable car mountain station.
