Highlights in Berchtesgaden: The Röthbach Waterfall in the National Park
Due to its location in Berchtesgaden National Park and its relatively difficult accessibility, it remained undiscovered for a long time. However, we'll show you a scenic hike to this waterfall on the Obersee.
With a drop of 470 meters, the Röthbach Waterfall at the southern end of Lake Königssee is the highest waterfall in Germany and plunges into the valley in two main stages.
Your vacation day starts right at the hotel. In just a few minutes, you reach the boat dock in Schönau am Königssee and take the boat to the "Salet" stop. From here, you hike 3 km along the Obersee to the Fischunkelalm. Beyond this, you continue through a small forest, then you can see the natural spectacle impressively cascading into the valley.
