In the heart of the Nockberge mountains - the Alpine Road near Bad Kleinkirchheim
The beautiful, varied and scenic Alpine road in Bad Kleinkirchheim has a lot to offer and can be explored by bike, car or bus.
At approximately 2042 meters above sea level and along 52 hairpin bends, there are countless nameless viewpoints offering panoramic views: of the surrounding peaks of the Nockberge mountains and, of course, the Eastern Alps.
Furthermore, you can learn much more about this unique experience and the region in countless free exhibitions along the Nockalm Road.
Did you know that the construction of the Nockalm Road in 1970 was intended, on the one hand, to connect the Tauern Autobahn (then under construction) to the Lieser Valley, and on the other hand, to unite the Nock Mountains with the center of Carinthia? The initial idea, however, was to "give tourism a decisive boost," which ultimately didn't work out that way. Since then, the alpine road has also been known as the "Flower Road" because the Nockalm Road is lined with numerous flowers.
The journey via the Nockalmstraße is free with the Kärnten Card.
