Berchtesgaden Castle with a view of the Watzmann
Since 1818, the castle has been used as a hunting lodge by the Bavarian royal family. Although the royal castle in Berchtesgaden serves primarily as a museum, it is still the home and summer residence of the Wittelsbach dynasty.
Thanks to its former affiliation with the Kingdom of Bavaria, you can marvel at a variety of valuable art collections from various stylistic periods at the royal Berchtesgaden Castle and, of course, learn about the history of this building. The highlight is the Upper Rose Garden, from which you can catch what is probably the most beautiful view of the Watzmann in all of Berchtesgaden.
Please note that a tour of the castle is only possible with a guided tour. This lasts approximately 60 minutes.
You are also welcome to register for a guided tour by phone :)
It is best to park your car in the underground car park at the AlpenCongress, from where you can walk to the castle and the abbey church in 3 minutes.
