The Alpsee in Immenstadt - the largest natural lake in the Allgäu
Honestly, the Great Alpsee in Immenstadt has so much to offer, you'd hardly know where to start or stop ;). The largest natural lake in the Allgäu is only 30 minutes from Oberstdorf and, in addition to great swimming opportunities, also offers a wide range of sporting opportunities.
The water surface has a size of 2.4 km² and thus offers enough space for all water sports. Whether sailing, surfing, or kitesurfing - the sky's the limit. You can also cross the Alpsee by rowing or pedal boat. And yes, before you ask: In Rauhenzell in the Allgäu, which is only 10 minutes from the Great Alpsee, you'll find the SUP Center Allgäu. Here you'll find everything you need for your SUP experience on the lake.
Water not your thing? No problem! Around the Great Alpsee in Immenstadt, you can start numerous mountain bike tours or take a ride on an e-bike. And maybe you'll even jump into the water for a bit afterward, it's a good idea.
If you get hungry after all that exertion, you'll find a variety of restaurants and cafes along the lake promenade. There's also a mini-golf course at the harbor.
The best places to park are in the paid parking lots in Bühl or directly on the B308, which takes you to the Großer Alpsee.
And another tip for winter - if you're interested in a guided snowshoe tour, you can book one with Allgäu Bikers. Have fun!
