Mountain panorama and swimming fun at Geroldsee near Garmisch-Partenkirchen
You have to make a detour to Geroldsee near Garmisch-Partenkirchen just for the magnificent Karwendel panorama. Of course, you can swim in this lake during your summer vacation in Garmisch. But there's something much nicer than cooling off on hot summer days: getting up early!
Um, what? Yes, you read that right. The sunrise at Geroldsee is one of the top photo spots in Bavaria, and you certainly don't want to miss it on your vacation in Garmisch (whether summer or winter).
If you're feeling fit and motivated afterward, you can also start the Three Lakes Hike or take a short detour to the Partnach Gorge or the Kuhflucht Waterfalls near Farchant.
Please note that there are no official parking spaces at the lake; you park on the street in the village.
P.S. Geroldsee is also called Wagenbrüchsee - why? We're still trying to solve this mystery ;)
