THE swimming lake in Oberstdorf
Did you know that the Freibergsee in Oberstdorf is the largest high mountain lake in the Allgäu? Now you know ;)
Just as you shouldn't neglect the Allgäu mountains during your vacation in Oberstdorf, there are also other places you absolutely must visit. The Freibergsee natural swimming pool in Oberstdorf, which can be reached in about 30 minutes on foot from the Renksteg parking lot, is definitely one of them.
Especially on hot summer days, the highest swimming lake in the Allgäu is the perfect place for a refreshing dip in water temperatures of up to 25 degrees! Anyone who wants to work on their tan will find the perfect place on the large sunbathing lawn. If you prefer something more sporty, you can also rent rowing boats or pedal boats and let off steam. And if you get hungry, you'll be well catered for in the on-site restaurant.
Tip: How about a hike to one of the largest ski jumps in the world? From the parking lot at Renksteg, the path leads you uphill to the Edmund Probst Trail. From here, hike along the right bank of Lake Freiberg to the Oberstdorf ski jump (approx. 30 minutes). You can return the same way, or walk around the lake and return to the starting point.
