800 years of history, secret passages & the world's largest open-air organ
Even from afar, it's hard to miss: Kufstein Fortress towers over the town and looks back on more than 800 years of history. It was first documented in 1205 – today you can conquer the ancient walls without a siege.
This is what you can expect
Covering approximately 24,000 m² , the fortress complex features 21 stations that guide you through the grounds. The route takes you through historic buildings, exhibitions, and some truly fascinating corners.
- Discover the fortress: Stroll through courtyards, fortifications and the Elisabeth Battery with its cannon collection.
- Go underground: Explore the rock passage and take a look into the well, which is about 60 meters deep .
- History you can walk through: Visit, among other things, the local history museum, the former state prison and various exhibitions.
- Easy access to the top: The round trip on the panoramic cable car is already included in the admission price.
- For little fortress conquerors: The interactive puzzle rally turns the tour into a small adventure for families.

A true highlight awaits daily at 12:00 noon : the Heroes' Organ in the Citizens' Tower resounds. With 4,948 pipes, it is, according to Kufstein Fortress, the largest open-air organ in the world and can be heard far beyond the city limits. In July and August, there is also a concert at 6:00 pm . The organ recital is included in the fortress admission.

The combination ticket includes the panoramic railway as well as museums, exhibitions and outdoor areas.
The main entrance is located right in the center of Kufstein, behind the parish church of St. Vitus. Several parking garages are located nearby. Kufstein is also easily accessible by train, allowing you to combine a visit to the fortress with a stroll through the town.
