February 6th - 8th, 2026 at the Explorer Hotel Berchtesgaden
What do I need to consider when planning my winter tours? What should absolutely be in my touring backpack?
How do I read the avalanche bulletin? And how do I react correctly in an emergency?
You'll learn this and much more at the Explorer Hotels Avalanche Awareness Camp with our mountain guide from the BMS Mountain School. In addition to theory sessions at the hotel, we'll head out into the field and on tours to put what you've learned into practice.
This camp is suitable for everyone. Whether you're a seasoned pro, have some experience, or are new to avalanche safety, this camp is for you! You should have some ski touring experience and be fit enough for a tour with approximately 800 meters of elevation gain in 5-6 hours.
Important: Please bring your own equipment (airbag, probe, transceiver, and shovel) if you have it. If you don't have any equipment, let us know so we can rent it for you. You can also rent ski touring equipment (for a fee); just let us know if you'd like to rent it.
- Until 4:00 PM: Individual arrival
- 4:00 PM: Welcome, introductions, and distribution of rental equipment (if applicable)
- Followed by: First theory session: Avalanche transceiver search
- 7:00 PM: Dinner
- Followed by: Relaxed end to the evening
- From 6:30 a.m.: Breakfast
- Followed by: Simple avalanche burial training
- Followed by: Second theory session: Avalanche awareness and tour planning
- Followed by: Time to relax in the sports spa
- 7 p.m.: Dinner
- Followed by: Relaxing end to the evening
- From 6:30 a.m.: Breakfast
- Followed by: Ski tour with avalanche awareness training
- Approx. 4 p.m.: Return to the hotel & farewell
